Koloa Dark Rum is made from pure cane sugar, distilled in an impressive vintage 1,210 gallon, steam-powered copper pot still and cut with filtered water from the ancient Mount Wai'ale'ale.
The rum is distilled 2 times at 160 – 180 ABV.
COCKTAIL RECIPE
Dark Rum Sour
2 oz - Koloa Dark Rum
.75 oz - Lemon Juice
2 oz -Simple Syrups
2 Dashes Bitters
1 Egg White
1. Dry shake Koloa Kaua’i Dark Rum, egg white, simple syrup, and lemon juice in a shaker with spring.
2. Shake for 8-10 seconds vigorously to create a froth.
3. Fill shaker with ice and shake until cold, about 15 seconds.
4. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a rocks glass with ice. Add 3 drops of bitters over the froth.
EXPERIENCE
BODY & COLORThis dark rum is a deep chocolate brown that rolls with a syrupy viscosity around the glass, developing into thick, slowly rolling light black coffee colored legs.
AROMAThis rum has a strong vanilla nose. Subtler notes of dark semi-sweet chocolate, fresh brewed espresso and chocolate cupcakes arrive to round out the experience.
TASTEIt presents itself with robust flavors of vanilla, and dark semi-sweet chocolate.
FINISHLightly finishes with espresso, all encompassed within a dry, highly flavorful dark rum.
