We increasingly look for inspiration from the spiritual home of Syrah in the Northern Rhone - places like Cote-Rotie and Cornas. These regions represent the northern-most limit where Syrah can be grown. They are cool, often cold climates, yielding wines that offer more perfume and texture than fruitiness. Our Estate Syrah is one of the coolest climate Syrahs in California and these vines struggle to ripen fruit each vintage. The 2012 Estate Vineyard Syrah has several layers of aromas and flavors; it is a wine to sit with and ponder. We recommend experimenting with different food pairings with this wine - the range you will discover will astound you!
