The philosophy of winemaking for Podernuovo a Palazzone is to produce elegant yet simple wines that show Tuscan style and values. For owner Giovanni Bulgari, developing wines means the continued tradition of excellence and a commitment to uncompromising quality which is what the Bulgari family name stands for and part of his DNA.

WINEMAKING:
The training system used is spurred cordon. The soil consists of clayey with limestone stripes. The harvest took place during the first half of October. Maceration on the skins for 20 days followed by alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature in 1500 litres Oak vats; malolactic fermentation in 225litre new barriques; 8 to 10 months of ageing in 225 liter barriques, 4 to 6 months on cement vats. 12 months of ageing in bottles.

TASTING NOTES:
A great Tuscan wine from Cabernet Franc, with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon. Fine and elegant, intense ruby red color with purple highlights and blacks hues. On the nose can be perceived aromas such as cocoa, smoky, coriander, nettle, licorice and tar. In the mouth is powerful, warm, long-lasting, mineral, and balsamic, with fresh notes of menthol.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM

JS94, James Suckling

"A red with blueberry and raspberry character, as well as black olive. Full body. Medium-chewy tannins. Flavorful finish. Shows polish and seriousness, as always."
