LA FLEUR HAUT-BAGES LIBERAL PAUILLAC '12
The Liberal family founded the estate at the beginning of the 18th century. Generation after generation, they succeeded in forming a vineyard consisting of some of the best soil in Pauillac. Chateau Haut Bages Liberal was included among the fifth growths in the 1855 classification. Since the arrival of the Villars family in 1983, Haut Bages Liberal has gradually recovered its formal glory. Today, the property is run by Claire Villars Lurton who modernised the winemaking facilities and introduced new, environmentally friendly methods.
WINERY NOTES:
Grapes: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot
Winemaking: Hand picking harvest. Traditional vinification, in thermo-regulated stainless steel and concrete vats. Fermentation on skins during 18 to 21 days. 12 months ageing in oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Dense ruby color with nice aromas of sweet blueberries and blackcurrants. Elegant, with rich fruit, well-balanced tannins and a mineral touch. One of the bargains of the vintage.
Soil: Clay, Limestone, Gravel
Pairing Red meat, fowl, cheeses.
