WINERY NOTES:
Musigny is located on a chalky terrace overlooking Clos Vougeot; it is between two small valleys, the "combe" of Chambolle and the "combe" of Orveaux. Musigny is remarkable for its great purity of colour. The aromas are reminiscent of violet and fruit stone when the wine is young. After eight to ten years, these aromas become very refined and complex: fallen leaves, damp earth, moss and hints of fur or leather. The tasting sensations are incomparable in terms of finesse and harmony. The tannins are elegant, although very much alive. Silk and velvet match the liveliness of the acidity. The lingering aftertaste is dominated by hints of rare, exotic woods as well as candied cherry.

Serving Temperature: 16-18C (61-65F)
Cellaring: 10 to 50 year

CRITICAL ACCLAIM:
"As is often the case chez Drouhin, this possesses the spiciest nose in the range with its aromas of red and dark currant, Asian tea, sandalwood and plenty of floral influence. There is very outstanding depth in the focused and sleekly muscular broad-shouldered flavors that exude a sense of focused power as well as ample minerality before culminating in a strikingly long and well-balanced finish. This is both silky and refined and the natural class of Musigny is very much on parade. Like the Amoureuses, this is a bona fide 'wow' wine that should richly reward extended keeping."
96 points, Burghound

"This doesn't quite hit the same heights as the 2015 or 2016 releases - few red Burgundies do - but it's still a very impressive rendition of a grand cru bottling that's always among the highlights of Drouhin's tastings. It's subtle, delicate and refined, with chiseled, chalky acidity, pomegranate and wild strawberry fruit, and some sappy notes from 40% whole bunches. Drinking Window 2024 - 2030."
96 points, Decanter

"This is a very complex and assertive wine that is so enticingly floral, spicy and fragrant that you can smell earthy notes, as well as sweetly smoky nuances with a full complement of ripe red cherries and blood-orange zest. The palate has a very plush, very long, deep and powerful style with rich red cherries, framed in effortlessly long, plush and seamlessly ripe tannins. So long, velvety and approachable. It also has the balance and structure to age."
96 points, James Suckling
