One of the pioneers of the modern Greek wine revolution, Gai’a Estate (pronounced Yay-ya) was established in 1994 by Leon Karatsalos and winemaker Yiannis Paraskevopoulos. Pioneers of the modern Greek wine revolution and with two wineries (one in Nemea and the other in Santorini), they produce avant-garde wines with an international presence. Their mission was to capture the best that Greece’s indigenous grapes have to offer by merging traditional viticultural and production methods with innovative techniques. The estate is named after “Mother Earth,” in honor of the unique terroir that gives birth to these world-class wines.

Gaia Estate Nemea Red is a red wine aged in wood made by Gaia Wines with the Agiorgitiko variety in the AOP Neméa, in the Peloponnese area (Greece). Gaia Estate Nemea Red comes from low-yielding vineyards on south-western slopes at an altitude of 650 metres. They’re old vines planted in volcanic soils and cultivated traditionally. The grapes are harvested manually when they reach optimum ripeness. In the cellar, Gaia Estate Nemea Red ferments at a controlled temperature and macerates for a long time. The wine then ages for 18 months in 225-litre French oak barrels. Finally it’s bottled with natural clarification and without filtration. Gaia Estate Nemea Red comes from the cool heights of Nemea, the largest wine region in Greece. A dazzling, sweet and complex premium red wine.
