When Founder David Stare first visited the Loire Valley in the late 1960s, he fell in love with the crisp, expressive Sauvignon Blancs of Sancerre. Determined to craft similar wines of his own, he planted Sauvignon Blanc in Dry Creek Valley in 1972, defying the advice of experts who doubted the grape’s potential here. More than 50 years later, Sauvignon Blanc has become the signature white variety of Dry Creek Valley, and our Fumé Blanc remains a cornerstone of Dave’s pioneering legacy. Fermented entirely in stainless steel, the 2024 vintage bursts with aromas of lemon, jasmine, lemon verbena and lemongrass, accented by nectarine, mandarin, pineapple-guava and passionfruit. Layers of creamsicle, cucumber, celery leaf and gravelly minerality add depth. On the palate, lime, grapefruit and citrus peel mingle with white peach, honeydew melon and citrus blossom. Crisp and vibrant with soft mid-palate texture, the wine finishes with bright, racy energy.
