Château Romassan is a Bandol of great dimension, which tames the mourvèdre grape variety by the strength of its terroirs. Its location transcribes to its character, fully exhilarating to the Mediterranean origin.  To this concentration and depth are added finesse and a unique silkiness. At any moment of its evolution, up to fifteen years of ageing or more, one will find the beating heart of Bandol, balance and controlled strength.

The terroir of Bandol is one of the jewels of Provence. Bathed in sunshine and open to the sea, constantly beaten by the winds, our vineyard is made up of marl and limestone soils particularly well adapted to mourvèdre. In the valley, the grapes deliver more juice and crunchiness, while on the hillsides, at higher altitudes, they offer greater strength and structure. The blending of these terroirs, exposed to different winds and climates, makes it possible to produce a cuvée of great ageing potential, complex and precise.

Château Romassan Red is a great, concentrated and deep cuvée composed of the best attributes of each plot. The 2017 millésime marks a turning point in this stylistic evolution, with trials conducted in all areas - viticulture, winemaking, maturing - to deliver the ultimate quintessence every year. Château Romassan Red 2017 is a great Bandol for laying down, faithful to the historical heart of the appellation.

WINEMAKER NOTES

The 2017 vintage displays a beautiful ruby red hue. The nose opens with subtle menthol and spicy notes which give way to aromas of Morello cherry and blackcurrant. These same fruit aromas are found on the palate, combined with a concentrated and fresh attack. The powerful structure is supported by silky smooth tannins which give this wine its excellent balance.
