Ay: two noble letters denoting the iconic terroir of the Pinot Noir. Two letters that undoubtedly influenced the decision of the Founder, William Deutz, to set up his Maison on these slopes located in the heart of the Champagne region. As a tribute to this man of vision, Champagne Deutz presents the first opus of a series of this single varietal wine which epitomizes the wonderful alchemy between grape, man and terroir.

A single varietal (100% Pinot Noir) wine created in honor of the visionary founder of this eponymous Maison. As the first opus in a series of the finest expressions of the emblematic Ay terroir, this champagne is blessed with a deep yet bright golden hue and a delicate, pristine and enchanting effervescence. The nose has captured the characteristic scents of the grapes from the Chilli coast and Meurtet hillsides on which the Pinot Noir varietal thrives. This precise and harmonious wine represents a journey of discovery, a journey that leads to the ultimate discovery of the William Deutz vintage.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM

95 points, James Suckling

"Slightly more opulent on the nose than the other new single-vineyard 2012 from Deutz. Lots of strawberries and cooked pears with biscuit undertones. Full-bodied, very deep and flavorful with lots of beautiful fruit and a long, long finish. Fantastic. Drink now."

93 points, Robert Parker

"The 2012 Brut Blanc de Noir Parcelle d'Aÿ Meurtet Hommage à William Deutz is showing nicely, offering up aromas of warm orchard fruit, honeycomb, desiccated orange rind and subtle hints of praline. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with crisp acids, an elegantly fleshy core and good grip on the finish. This derives entirely from Deutz's holdings in the climate Meurtet in Aÿ."

93 points, The Wine Advocate

"Its bouquet is clear, bright, fresh and delicately aromatic, with sweet red cherry, floral and flowery aromas, almond notes and remarkable finesse. Intensely fruity and round but with great finesse, this is an elegant, firmly structured, fresh and persistent cuvee with bright acidity, good mineral tension and pretty high dosage of nine grams per liter. There are lovely fruit flavors in the aftertaste. This is a beautifully delicate but complex Hommage to be enjoyed with food."
