Since 1838 Deutz has been based in the Grand Cru village of Ay, just west of Epernay. By the late 19th Century Deutz became a much sought after Champagne consumed by many heads of state and royalty. In 1983 the Rouzaud family, owners of Louis Roederer, purchased Deutz and installed the talented Fabrice Rosset as the CEO. The Deutz style continues to be understated, refined, and made to exacting standards. In addition to their property in Ay, Deutz has acquired vineyards in the Cotes des Blanc and have secured long term contracts with their grower partners, all of which practice sustainable vineyard management. Mr Rosset was responsible for engineering the success of Roederer's premium cuvee Cristal, and has introduced his own line of prestige cuvees, Amour de Deutz. Under the leadership of Mr Rosset, Deutz is again a much sought after brand with significant market presence in Europe and the US.

Inspired by the graceful cherub from whom its name derives, Amour de Deutz is a rare cuvee. Born of the romance of Chardonnay's grands crus and nurtured in a haven of natural chalk, it boasts the impish charm of youth, which will gradually soften over the years to reveal the grape's quintessential qualities in a harmony for all the senses. A unique, refined and amazing cuvee.

TASTING NOTES

On the eye: This champagne displays a shimmering, delicate pink-gold hue. The effervescence is fine, lively and steady and the ring of mousse, vibrant and joyful.

On the nose: It is particularly elegant and ethereal on the nose, releasing delicate notes of white flowers mingled with delicious aromas of nectarine and Mirabelle plum.

On the palate: Clean and silky on entry to the palate, fulfilling the promise of the nose, this champagne is the quintessence of Amour de Deutz. It's aromatic score is wonderfully melodious with all its floral, fruity and mineral notes in perfect harmony.

PAIRING

Amour de Deutz makes a sumptuous aperitif.

It will pair very nicely with delicate, subtle foods, such as lobster, sea bass or halibut.

Dishes such as caviar, sushi, sashimi, and carpaccios of tuna or Kobe beef, should be served simply, seasoned with a little olive oil or accompanied by a light or succulent sauce. The champagne will complement, and even magnify, their flavors.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM

WE96, Wine Enthusiast

"A mature Champagne from a great vintage year, this is concentrated. With toast over the white fruits and with minerality still very present, the wine is taut, textured, vibrant and ready to drink."

WW96, Wilfred Wong of Wine.com

"COMMENTARY: The 2011 Champagne Deutz Amour de Deutz is intense, nicely evolved, and outstanding all the way around. TASTING NOTES: This wine explodes with aromas and flavors of ripe fruit, earth, and chalk. Pair it with stuffed Dungeness crab. (Tasted: April 27, 2022, San Francisco, CA)"

WS93, Wine Spectator

"A vibrant Champagne, with a fine mousse and a well-meshed range of ripe yellow plum, cherry blossom, candied lemon peel and ginger flavors enriched by notes of grilled nut and smoke. Creamy finish. Drink now through 2026."
