CHERRY PIE PINOT NOIR STANLY RANCH 2018

WINERY NOTES

Pinot Noir was first planted at Stanly Ranch in the 1940s, when a clonal trial proved the ranch's well-drained day-loam soils and rolling hills ideal for growing the finicky varietal. The vineyard has been significantly refined over the years, and Stanly Ranch is now one of the most sought-after vineyards for Pinot Noir in California.

TASTING NOTES
Dense ruby in color, the 2015 Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir first shows aromas of crushed berry, fresh lavender and rose with cola undertones. The palate is full-bodied in texture, showing bountiful notes of raspberry jam, baked strawberries and a hint of cherry cola atop cocoa flavors and powdered tannins. Laden with the same bold fruits as on the nose, the mid-palate shows layer upon layer of cranberry, dried rose petal and vanilla, carrying through the long finish.

"The 2015s, which will be released next year, all look strong and of similar quality to their 2013 counterparts. The fruit is ripe, the texture is terrific and they are gorgeous Pinot Noirs, but more on them when we get closer to release date. Sadly, the production of all of these Pinot Noirs is relatively small, just like the Cabernet Sauvignons, averaging 600-1,000 cases of each.."
