CHATEAU LAMOTHE-BOUSCAT PESSAC-LEOGNAN

VINEYARDS
The vines are grown on deep gravelly soils and are on average 35 years old. The vineyards are sustainably managed and pruning is carried out by hand by five vineyard workers.
VINTAGE INFORMATION
In spite of the cold and wet weather during early August, 2014 was a good harvest at Chateau Lamothe Bouscaut. A sudden burst of warmth and sunshine towards the end of August was exactly what was needed to help ripen the grapes. Once September arrived, the Sauvignon Blanc grapes had reached optimum ripeness and were harvested at the beginning of the month in perfect, dry and sunny weather conditions. The Semillion followed two weeks later. Harvest was complete by the end of the month.

VINIFICATION
The bunches of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon are pressed and the juce is partially racked and chilled for 24 hours. Afterwards it is transferred to barrels, of which 30% are new oak where it is vinified on its fine lees. After fermentation, the wine is aged for eight months in oak with batonnage taking place once a month.

TASTING NOTES
The nose offers fresh citrus and floral notes. On the palate it is well-rounded, with grapefruit and pineapple flavours. The oak is subtle and well-integrated, giving the wine body and balance.
