Chateau De La Tour
chateau de la tour vieilles vignes clos vougeot grand cru 2015 1.5 liter(magnum)
Deep ruby in color. These old vines offer dark berry aromas, violets, tobacco and minty notes. 100+ year old vines generates concentrated and rich flavors of dark fruit, plum, cassis and blackberries. This is a muscular yet balanced and well-structured wine that rewards cellar aging.
The most famous piece of Vougeot is the Clos de Vougeot. This vineyard is the largest of the Grands Crus, over 125 acres, with more than 80 different owners. Originally, the wine of the Clos was assembled from different portions of the vineyard to make a masterful blend, which justified its Grand Cru status. Today, a grower who owns a plot right next to the road, in the clay-heavy soil there, has as much right to call his wine 'Grand Cru' as one from the upper 'Musigny' section, adjacent to Les Musigny, with wonderful stony soil, or that adjacent to Echezeaux.
"Dark red with ruby tones. Penetrating aromas and flavors of black cherry and minerals. Wonderfully creamy and deep but with a compelling juiciness to leaven its velvety sweetness. Utterly mouthcoating thickness here as well as outstanding spicy depth and impeccable balance. Finishes with powerful tannins and great persistence. And bone-dry in spite of its strong impression of sucrosite. This will age for a long time. Labet described this wine as 'like drinking through a funnel: we feel the pressure but it's coming through a small hole."

"This is aromatically similar to the regular cuvee but there is notably more concentration, power and dry extract that pushes the very firm tannic spine to the background on the hugely long, palate coating and driving finish. This is a manifestly old school Clos de Vougeot that is not only very much built-to-age but is going to require lots of it. In a word, excellent. *Sweet Spot*"

"This racy red is subtle in aroma, revealing vanilla, cherry, kirsch, currant, graphite and spice flavors. Remains elegant despite the dusty tannins, with a bittersweet chocolate note on the long finish. Best from 2022 through 2040."
