"Big, leathery and ripe, the 2010 Creso is a unique blend of Corvina (65%) and Cabernet. Timing of the Corvina harvest is calculated to give this component a fruity characteristic with standard sugar and phenolic ripeness. In other words, care is taken not to harvest too late. The Cabernet, on the other hand, is air-dried until the berries lose 30% of their natural water weight. When the Cabernet is pressed in November, that wine is added to the Corvina-based wine and the blend undergoes a second fermentation. The results are rich and bountiful with thick extract and dark flavors that recall prune, cassis, Christmas spice, nutmeg and old leather. Creso sees 12 months in new oak and I'd give it a year or two for better integration. Drink 2014-2020." - Monica Larner (10/2013)
