Viñas de Oro is located 133 miles south of Lima, Peru in the traditional district of El Carmen, Chincha in Ica. A father and son duo, Mr. Pedro and Mario Brescia have a background in agriculture engineering and a heart for adventure.

The winery opened their doors in 1983 as part of the “Breca” Agricola unit, a Peruvian business by the Brescia Cafferata family which has been in business for over 100 years. The extensive property covers eight hundred hectares, eighty of which are dedicated to growing six types of Pisco grapes.

Viñas de Oro values social and environmental responsibility in farming and production methods. Traditional distillation combined with modern production techniques ensures an exquisite Pisco collection of the highest quality.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

VINIFICATIONGrapes Ripen February Through April followed by grape harvest. Utilizing an Italian grape press the grapes are crushed and concentrated into a juice (‘Mosto’) with no hint of astringency. Grape skins and seeds are discarded to create the Peruvian wine base.

DISTILLATIONNaturally occurring yeast from the grape skins is used to begin fermentation, which occurs over a 7 to 15-day process in steel tanks.  Distillation of the base takes place in alembic stills. The final distillate is then rested for 12 months in steel tanks to balance the aroma, taste, and texture. The final product is bottled at 41% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

  • A sweet and balanced nose with spices and herbal tones
  • Chamomile blossoms and grape essence
  • The palate is light, round and silky, with a solid fruit and floral character
