TERROIR

The Santi Amarone ‘Santico’ is sourced from estate vineyards spread across multiple terroirs of the Valpolicella region.

VINIFICATION

Only the ripest recie (ears) of the grape clusters are harvested when full ripeness is achieved in late October. Immediately following harvest the clusters are dried under shelter in flat wood crates until late January of the following year, greatly increasing natural sugar content and concentration. The dried grapes produce a powerful wine with marvelous flavor which is aged up to three years in Allier and Slovenian oak casks prior to releas

WINEMAKER NOTES

Dark red hue in appearance. Concentrated, fragrant nose with top notes of cherry jam and cranberries, followed by hints of plum, dried fruit and cocoa.

On the palate it is full, round, with velvety tannins, pleasantly tangy with a long finish, with notes of red berries and an alluring full flavor.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM

RP91, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The Santi 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Santico is an accessible expression of 80% Corvina and 20% Rondinella from a balanced and elegant vintage. The wine delivers the basics and doesn't venture far beyond. It offers a pretty assembly of dark fruit, spice, tar and campfire ash. Fruit is sourced from some of Santi's historic growing sites in San Pietro in Cariano, Fumane and Marano between 150 and 300 meters in elevation.
