Bodega Santa Julia was created in honor of Julia Zuccardi, part of the third generation of leaders from the Zuccardi Family. The Santa Julia winery represents the family’s commitment to producing the highest quality wines through sustainable practices that protect the environment and uplift the local community. For Julia, and the Zuccardi Family, sustainability is not just about working in harmony with the environment, rather it is a comprehensive approach that supports the land, the farmers, and the overall health of the local community in terms of educational, physical, and financial health. Julia, alongside her grandmother, Emma, continue to enrich their local community by providing childcare and schooling for their employees’ children, adult education programs, access to computer labs, and health and fitness centers to sustain physical and mental health. Sustainable practices include organic farming, compost production, bottling in lightweight glass, and solar power in the winery. With Santa Julia in your glass, you are assured to be drinking a high quality wine which respects the land, and supports the families who diligently tend to the vines.

WINEMAKER NOTES

Typical aromas of Malbec. Fresh fruit and a hint of plums and cherries. Deep red color with violet hues. Great body and structure. Deep in mouth. Pleasant finish with a taste of plums jam.

CRITICAL ACCLAIM

RP91, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"Surprisingly enough, the 2022 El Burro Malbec Natural feels a bit closed, as Sebastian Zuccardi told me that when you work in a reductive way and don't use added sulfur, the wines tend to close down. It has a somewhat reductive personality and needed air and time in the glass. This achieved 14.7% alcohol, which also acts as a kind of preservative. It's varietal, with violets, berries and herbs, a juicy palate with fine-grained tannins and a long, dry finish. It's clean and precise and has a lively color, as adding sulfur also lowers the color, which was not the case here."

W&S91, Wine & Spirits

"Perfumed with violets and wild raspberries, this wine’s quick journey to the northern hemisphere left it with a slight tanky edge to the acidity. A bit of air settled it, becoming exuberant and energetic. Toss it on top of the ice in a picnic cooler to focus its energy."

JS91, James Suckling

"A fruity malbec with dark cherries, violets, hot stones and a hint of oyster sauce. Juicy and vivid on the palate with fresh, natural acidity and firm tannins. Flavorful finish. A well-made natural wine. From organically grown grapes. No sulphites added."
