Plantation is one of our favorite rum producers. They source fantastic rums from all over the world, partially age them in-country, then ship them to France to finish them. This gem comes from the unlikely country of Peru. As one of their `single cask' series, it was distilled in 2010, aged in Bourbon casks for 7 years, then another year in France in Pineau des Charantes cask.
Sultanas and oak then molasses and orange. Next, a smoky profile with tropical fruits, dried banana, pineapple and kiwi. Rich and woody in the mouth with spicy cloves, ginger and fruity/buttery notes of fresh peach pie. A hint of refreshing peppermint finishes it off.
