Originally released around 2000, this great dram is becoming rarer and rarer. Has had many awards including a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2005.
Tasting Notes:
On the nose:
All of those years in sherry casks results in a huge, rich aroma of mixed fruits. Just the right amount of smoky, earthy peat (and some sweet caramel/vanilla from the oak) rises up and mixes with the fruit.
On the palate:
Hints of fruit emerging from the smoky peatiness.
Finish:
This Laphroaig finishes very long and smoky.
