The cup of Jamshid is a cup of divination in Persian mythology.
According to an ancient Persian legend, the history of wine began almost 7000 years ago with a beautiful princess who lost favor with the mythological King Jamshid. Overwhelmed with sorrow, the princess tried to posion herself by drinking juice from a jar filled with spoiled grapes, after which she fell asleep. The next morning, the princess felt rejuvenated. Thereafter, King Jamshid decreed that all grapes grown in Persepolis would be devoted to wine making.
Dr. Jamshid Maddahi continues this rich Persian wine making tradition using hand cultivated grapes that are grown on the family estate hillside in a superlative climate and terroir together with viticulture experts.
