BODEGA NUMANTHIA TERMANTHIA 2012

WINERY NOTES:
Termanthia, our iconic wine, is the ultimate expression of the Tinta de Toro. Crafted from vines reaching 150 years old, it delivers fruit intensity and impressive full body as well as elegance and complexity. Inside each glass of Termanthia there is a century, a handcrafted perfection, and a haute couture style. ,BR>
Toro's timeless essence revealed by the winemaker's craft, Termanthia is a handmade treasure. In a meticulous approach whose attention to detail evokes the world of haute couture, grapes are picked manually from the vines of a single parcel over 120 years old and then crushed by foot. Aged twice in new French oak barrels and neither fined nor filtered, Termanthia displays a mouthfeel of velvet elegance with perfectly integrated tannins that point to its longevity and timeless appeal.

VINTAGE NOTES:
The 2012 vintage was warm and very dry: it was considered as having one of the four warmest summers in the last fifty years, with only less than 200 mm (8 inches) of total rainfall which barely provided half of the vine's needs. After a winter with limited rainfalls and low temperatures, an early spring arrived, quite cold and very dry. The bud burst started with approximately 10 days of delay, as well as flowering which occurred in a very warm month of June. Veraison took place in August, under extreme temperatures. The harvest finally started on the 17th of September and finished on the 13th of October.BR>
TASTING NOTES:
Color: Deep dark red, with thin layer of purple nuances.
Aroma: Fine and elegant wine with notes of small red fruits and hints of Madagascar vanilla well integrated, increasing its complexity when blended with cigar box and milk chocolate aromas. After oxygenation, floral and aromatic herbs such as thyme, pepper and licorice notes also develop.
Mouth: The entrance is smooth, silky and splendid. It surprises for its purity. The evolution in mouth is a great balance of creaminess, elegance and freshness. The fine tannins of French oak act as pillars of a sophisticated architecture, highlighted by hints of cherries, cranberries and toasted cocoa beans giving way to an everlasting end.
