Benegas La Encerrada Estate Vineyard Malbec 2011

Varietal composition: 100% malbec.

Grape origin: Finca La Encerrada, Gualtallary, Uco Valley, Mendoza.

Winemaking process: Cold pre-fermentation maceration. Tank fermentation at 77°F. Post fermentation maceration for two weeks. Racking and natural malolactic fermentation with indigenous yeasts in oak barrels of second and third use.

Ageing: Twelve months in French oak barrels of second and third use.

Tasting notes
Color: Brilliant and clean red ruby with violet hues.
Nose: Ripe strawberries and plums upfront followed by typical Uco Valley violet floral notes. Oak fermentation and oak ageing adds lactic nuances.
Palate: Medium intensity with mouth-filling round tannins. Easy to drink, velvety and unctuous with a long and lingering finish.

Ageing: Up to eight years.
Serving temperature: 60 - 62°F.

Pairing: Roasted and barbecued red meats, especially lamb.
