DOMAINE G. ROUMIER CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 2015

Domaine Georges Roumier was created in 1924. At that time, most of the production was sold to local merchants. In 1945, however, Georges Roumier initiated the practice of domaine bottling. Ever since, the reputation of the Roumier name has soared ever-higher. In 1981, Christophe Roumier and his father Jean-Marie became partners to jointly manage the Domaine Georges Roumier. Today, the Domaine covers 11.52 hectares in Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Corton-Charlemagne and makes wines that are profound, elegant, and consistently delicious.

Soil: clay-limestone
Average vine age: 40 years
Hand-harvested and sorted, 70-80% destemmed, punchdowns during fermentation, all natural yeasts, 16 months in 10-15% new oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered

Contains fruit from small sections of the 1er Crus of Fuees and Plantes that are vinified separately, in addition to village parcels. The Fuees is from a very steep part of the vineyard which Christophe says does not produce wine distinguished enough to bottle on its own.

"The 2015 Chambolle Musigny Village contains around 5% whole bunch fruit. It has an understated bouquet at first, needing just a few swirls of the glass to reveal red cherry and cranberry nose with purity rather than power. The palate is very well balanced with crunchy red fruit, wonderful acidity, fresh and with a touch on confit fruit on the engaging finish. What a delicious village cru this will grow up to be."- 90-92 points, Wine Advocate
