emilio moro ribera del duero 2018 750ml
This wine, bearing the name of its creator, is the alma mater of the winery. Ever since the harvest of ‘98, this mark refers to wine produced using medium-aged vineyards, although Emilio Moro previously used it for crianzas and reserves.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HARVEST \
The 2019 vegetative cycle was preceded by the April rains. However, from the middle of spring until the end of summer, the year was characterised by scarce rains and temperatures higher than expected. The harvest began after a few rainy days, which helped to balance the grapes’ composition and resulted in a year of extraordinary quality and optimal health.
Elaborated using grapes from medium-aged vineyards. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with subsequent ageing in French and American oak barrels.
Cherry red with a ruby rim. A complex and balanced bouquet with the rich nuances of a great vintage and respect for the tradition or the brand. The nose proffers a harmonious combination of Tempranillo fruit notes and shades from quality ageing in the barrel that respects the raw material. Mellow and medium-bodied in the mouth, with sweet tannins and a long and persistent aftertaste.
RP91, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"I like the balance of the eponymous 2018 Emilio Moro, which achieved full-ripeness and development of aromas and flavors in a cooler vintage. Here, the wines are selected by vine age, and this comes from vines that are between 15 and 25 years of age. The oak is there but in synchrony with the fruit."
"Deep, dense colour. Aromas of smoky oak and roasted black cherries. In the mouth it’s supple with abundant ripe dark fruit on the palate. There’s a firm grain of tannin on the finish. Richness is lifted by a zest of acidity. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for six months in 50% French and 50% American oak. A promising result in a complicated vintage and a good introduction to the Emilio Moro style."
