Nuts & Bolts - Wine Basic

Learn the fundamentals of tasting wine, recognize some of the more popular wines in the marketplace, reading the labels and basic food and wine paring. Develop confidence in choosing from a wine list and learns some practical tips on how to enhance your wine experience. We certainly hope you join us.

General Class Information

  • Our classes combine useful & distinctive information, a relaxed atomosphere, & plenty of specifically chosen wines and cheese.
  • Classes are trypically about two hours long featuring between 5 and 10 comparative tasting that serve to demonstrate varying levels of body, tannin, sweetness or dryness, fruity or earthy, & so much more.
  • The classes are designed so that you can learn about wine through tasting wine and learning abouth them while our instructor discusses their unique attributes, background & flavors.
  • In addition, we always taste a selection of artisinal cheeses, cured meats and olives from our store.
  • Many classes which focus on specific country or region we will offer specially prepared small plates which have been chosen for their ability to pair with the wines.
  • RSVP is required.

Marriage of Cheese & Wine

The sequence of tasting cheese and wine are very similar and when you find the right pairing it is heavenly. It can be a tricky topic but come with an open mind/palate and discover how and why the blissful union of these two is so sublime. Any good cheese regardless of origin; soft and supple, or tangy and pungent can find a match in a good bottle of wine. We’ll compare some conventional pairings with new delectable experiments.

Please join us for a infomative and fun road trip that will take us to the major wine regions of France.

    The first part of the series will take you from Paris to Chablis, Champagne to the Loire Valley then Bordeaux and Southwest including Languedoc.

    Part two of this series will cover Alsace, Chablis, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Rhone Valley, Provence and Jura.
