About “Bubbles Rule”
 Champagne is a wine first, and bubbles second: it's one of the world's great wines, but that "winey-ness" is easily lost amid all the hype over using Champagne for celebration. In fact, not all wines that sparkle are Champagne, only wines from one area of France 90 miles east of Paris. But what wines they are! In this fun tasting, we provide three classic examples of Champagne - three wines linked by a common sense of style but very different in how that style is conveyed. From Champagne Louis Roederer, one of the greatest producers of Champagne, we sample Brut Premier, a classic non-vintage (or as Lyn will explain, more appropriately a multi-vintage) Champagne. This crisp, dry wine sets the stage to explore a close cousin, Carte Blanche, another non-vintage Champagne from Louis Roederer with a different flavor profile. After comparing and contrasting these two wines, we move with Lyn to one of the crowning glories of Champagne, Vintage Rose'. It's so much more than simply "pink champagne" and Lyn explains why - how it's made, its unique flavor profile and how to pair all three of these wines with food. In 20 minutes, you have a crash (or crush) course in the sparkling allure of Champagne. And you will have tried three great wines to share with friends or enjoy on your own. An included bottle stopper will let you preserve the wines for later, if you can resist! |
